Hi all,

I have an NPI40 that started jamming yesterday. When I finally got the auger motor and auger out (the shaft of the auger broke and stayed on the auger motor) I found that there is a plastic screw that goes at the top of the auger shaft that looksto be a guide and hold the auger in place. It's a little mangled and for the life of me I have no idea how I could even get it back in. There is no direct sight line to even look up the auger tube. I am thinking of just ignoring it and not adding it back. Has anyone run into this issue? The attached picture is out it came out.

Thanks!

Do Not ignore !! It is the upper auger bushing that supports the auger
and keeps it in line
I have no idea how to reinstall but it is very necessary
I would also get a new one

Ok, so the auger would be stuck to the bushing whereas it should be a snug
fit in the housing so the auger can turn. The bushing is like a bearing just
think of an engine the crankshaft bearings takes the wear and lub the crankshaft
more or less the same but on a smaller scale
First off get a new bushing I think you will need a screw-set
Bushing P/N W105-0012
Screw-Set P/N W570-0110
Hopefully some one will come along who has changed one

Right, I am talking about the top where the pellets fall in the stove, the part you are talking about is the bottom where the auger attaches to the motor. Even the diagram for the stove shows the bottom bushing but not the top one.

Does the bushing on the auger shaft turn freely?
Does it slide off the auger shaft with ease?
Or is it stuck to the shaft?

It unscrewed from the top of the auger shaft and slid down onto the auger itself. I have no clue how it unscrewed itself as the auger turns clockwise. It slides right off.

Can you slide it off and show me (photo) of both ends of the bushing

That one is easy to install
A shallow socket, a long extension and a ratchet
Put the bushing in the socket and slide it up the auger hole
on the extension start the threads by hand and tighten with the ratchet
Do you have the necessary tools?
