Northwest Ohio Tornados

Guys there is a huge opportunity to help some folks out and get some wood out of the deal. Locally in Fulton County there is tons of down trees from the storm this weekend. Lot of folks need help clearing trees on their property. Talked to my buddy that lives a mile from the storms path. He said plenty of free wood pick a house, ask, and start cutting. Keeping things in perspective the damage to the homes, barns, and property is tragic, but if some of this wood is not gotten it will simply be burnt.

I've been cutting up the road in Dundee. People are grateful for the help, and I'm happy for the wood. It's almost all soft maple, but it could be worse.
There were tree service guys in town by mid morning Sunday handing out business cards. Not locals, but from 100-150 miles away. Not sure what to think about that.
At any rate, there's a lot of people like me, working for free. There isn't much to do except chip brush, which the village and county will take care of.

I'm about 20 mins south of Dundee and have friends in the mess up there. I'm getting a few loads out myself. I loaned them my generator and I get a few loads of wood. Everybody wins.

You also need to be careful with downed wires. They may be 'dead' and the whole city may not have power, but there is a LOT of generators running. It only takes one sloppy hookup to ruin your day.

I am 10 miles west of Dundee. And it just missed me. I was going to go check it out but something is wrong the the engine in the tuck. Its only running on five cylinders and a second one is cutting out from time to time. And I need more wood for next year too!

You hit that one right on. I'm about a mile from the storms path and have been helping out. You wouldn't believe the way some of these tree are being felled. Guys with brand new saws just cutting away. I wouldn't go near half of them without a crane. I'll try to post some pics later this evening. The storm that came through my area no one lost there life but 30 mins east of me five people died. Just tragic

I live smack dab between Millbury OH and Dundee MI (both were hit hard with tornados).

My employer is giving me 2 full days pay (a charity tax write off for them) to take off Thursday and Friday and help out with this mess. I planned on helping this weekend, but the extra two days will sure be nice. Plus it makes me feel good knowing I helped make a difference.

Loading up the pickup with axes, mauls, wedges, crow bars, rakes, wheel barrow, and (of course) my saw starting early Thursday morning. I'll help clearing out fallen trees during the day and make a few trips fully loaded with rounds each at night.

Chad Thats cool that your employer does that. I live just south of you and wish I could run up there and help out more. If you need pallets I can hook you up for free.

I really hated watching what was happening to you guys out there. When the storms finally rolled over us areas North and South of us, by just a matter of a few miles, got smacked some but nothing like you folks had. My wife commented on how nice it was to have the cold front come through and break the 90+ temps we were having but I told her it wasn't worth what happened to people on its way here.

It always amazes me how random tornado damage is..Tornados really have a way of reminding you how small you really are.

After the early snowstorm here last October there were tons of trees down, and lots of out-of-town tree services. I think there was enough business for everyone, and with on ly the local guys, it would have taken a long time to get driveways cleared. One thing about out-of-town tree services is that they probably don't have a local place to dump wood, and might be eager to drive to your place to get rid of it.

kidney stone put me in the hospital last week for 3 days have not got my strength back yet.

I don't have time to get any wood but I'm between Delta and Milbury. The tornado's passed just to our south through P-burg, actually over them. I also don't have time to go down and help with the clean up but I'm sending 30 doz. donuts and cookies to Milbury for the volunteers there. It's amazing how many people came out to help. One of my customers was found in her basement clinging to her chair, the entire house was completely gone. One of my employees was in a basement about 5 houses away and they pulled her out in the chair, she wouldn't let go. My employee, I think last night might have been the first time she's been able to sleep again. I hear estimates of $100,000,000 in damage.

Tornado hit about a mile and a half north of me and two miles west of me. A lot of the home owners with trees down are giving away firewood as long as you go and cut it up yourself. I was out cutting in Genoa the past two days and I'm beat. Can't imagine having to do it for daily just so you can return to some sort of normal life

Corner lot (almost 2 acres) on Woodville Rd & Hillie Dr, in Millbury OH - suffered a direct hit from the tornado.

Rounds are cut into manageable size pieces...I took 3 loads today and I didn't start my chainsaw once.

Grab everything you can because the county is clear cutting the entire lot (90% White & Black Ash) and loading it into dump trucks. The chit will go to waste and I cannot take it all.

Just stay out of the county's way and grab all you want. I personally know the home owner, I have been cutting on his lot all winter long.
