Hello all! Hoping to get some help here. I bought a house a couple years back and am just no getting around to setting up a wood stove. The chimney was here all ready when I purchased my home. My question is do you need a wall thimble? The chimney outside is a Metalbestos double wall that runs straight into the house. I will include a couple photos. I really don’t want to rip it down and install a wall thimble if it’s not necessary. Any help or advice is more than welcome! Thankyou!

You have a thimble you just need the inner piece to the wall pass through

Sorry for my ignorance, this is my first time ever having a wood stove. I ordered a thimble (photo below) and it’s an interlocking unit. Whereas what I have just seems like a piece of chimney going through a piece of sheet metal. I’m missing the interior face plate. I’m wondering if I could make the face plate of thimble I bought work.

Is there anyway I could fabricate something?

Is that the thimble for your specific chimney?

The chimney metalbest, I can’t remember the name they go by now, I believe it starts with an S. That thimble in the photo is made by the same company. I’ve watched a lot of videos of people installing thimbles and they connect together as one with the chimney pipe going through. My set up, seems to be just a double wall pipe going through the wall. It’s just a metal plate on the outside with a hole cut through that the pipe runs through there is no interlock thimble like the one I posted a picture of in my second post. I was wondering if I could use just the interior trim piece of the thimble I bought and push it tight against the outside metal. I’m sorry if this is making no sense. I’m trying my best to explain 😅

Yes just using the inner piece should work. It should push tight against the outer if not extend it with sheet metal or cut off the ring frm.the outer piece ad use that. You already have the required clearances you just need to protect them from mice etc
