We are a new pellet manufacturer and will begin production in early 2010.

We would love to get a clear understanding of what’s most important to wood pellet users before we go into production.

We have put together a brief on line survey that can be accessed at:

(broken link removed to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=25bRGGfO7VNcztNXzdfhhA_3d_3d)

It will take less than five minutes to complete.

Input from new both new pellet users and old pros will be greatly appreciated.

At the current time, we cannot tell you who we are or where we are located because our state wants to control the “Big announcement” of the new plant and the new green jobs. Sorry for not being able to share our details but I’m sure you understand.

Thanks so much for your help!

yup.....what Zeta said :)

Filled in the survey. This might be a good forum for you but I agree that you should contact the moderators if you plan to market and advertise here. Good luck.

WOW ~ so many new moderators on this board! :-S

Welcome to the site Pellet Maker and good luck on your endeavor!
wonder what it take$ to be a moderator?

My guess is patience and approval of the guy who owns the board. But I'm just a guy sitting in a pew by the door.

filled out the survey too.
There's a new pellet plant in Northeast Georgia opening this summer. Georgia has several now. One ships only to Europe, greedy SOB's.

I filled out the survey as well.

Is there any way that we will get to see your final results?

I would find the results very interesting and a good measure of the consumers perspective.

You guys are incredible. Thanks so much for all your feedback.

I especially appreciate the time that so many of you took to add your comments and suggestions.

If you are interested, I’ll be happy to summarize the results and post them here.

I’ll wait a few days to give time to anybody else who wants to share an opinion before I total up your responses.

Thanks again!

Yup. We free up his time so he can go sailing and searching for the best vegetarian pizza on the planet. %-P Rick

nuthin' wrong with dat!

I want to thank you again for your responses and the best wishes that so many of you shared.

I will most definitely take all of your suggestions to heart as we move forward.

Here’s a summary of how you responded on the “What’s most important to you” question.

“Price” and “Amount of heat from pellets” were tied as the most important with over half of responses rating these items as “Critical” and just about all the others rating this as “Very Important”.

“Amount of ash” was next with over 85% of you rating this as “Very Important” or “Critical”.

“Amount of fines in bag” was next, followed by “No over length pellets” then “Packaging” and finally “Pellets manufactured in an environmentally friendly manner.”

Anybody surprised by the responses? Anything in the way I wrote the questions that could have skewed your answers? As always, I value your feedback.

No big surprises in the totals but you probably have a small sample .That may not capture how very important any one thing might be for different segments of your market. For example, for me ash is very important as long as the other stuff like heat generated is good. Someone else may have more time to keep the stove clean and dump ash, so that's less important to them. What that means for your packaging, I don't know. 8-/

When you're ready to ship product, I think people here might be interested in seeing a picture of your pellet bag.
