A Richmond-based energy company announced Monday it was planning to build a wood-pellet factory in Ahoskie, N.C.
Enviva LP plans to hire 53 workers at the plant, which is to be built on the site of a former Georgia Pacific lumber facility, according to a news release. The plant, which will have the capacity to generate 330,000 tons of wood pellets a year, is scheduled to open within two years.

This article would be a lot more enlightening if it told what the wood pellets are used for.
