Hello,
I want to give this review of a Morso 7110 B stove that might help others.
We had a VC Encore the past 38 years. Our house is a small slab cape. The stove is in the living room. As time went on we used the VC less and less because our updates to the house sealed it tighter so the VC was becoming too large for the house. I tried building smaller fires but the stove was still radiating too much heat. Last year we only ran the stove 10 or 12 days.
We’ve had the Morso since the beginning of November and it is working out great. I get very little smoke (only when I add more logs to the coals). The VC would smoke like a steamship unless I had it running hot enough for the cat to work which meant the heat coming off the stove was too much. I suppose the newer cat stoves with the cat thermometers are easier to run, our VC didn’t have a cat thermometer.
The Morso takes up less of the living room so we have a larger area for the grandkids to play in.
The VC would handle up 22-inch long splits but the Morso requires 16-inch long splits. So I built a jig that holds a stack of over 16-inch splits while I cut them in half with the chain saw (piece of cake).
The Morso heats up the slab and brick work fine without forcing us out of the living room. The Boss, I and the dog are very pleased with this new stove.
