Hello All,
We've been burning wood the past 38 years using a VC Encore. As time went on, we tightened up the house and used the stove less because it was too hot. 2 years ago we installed blown-in insulation and that ended the use of the Encore. We used it twice last year. We are replacing it with a Morso 7110. Are there any suggestions as to the difference between stoves other than the size? Our wood is between 16-18 inches in length and up to 5 inches in diameter. Should I be cutting and splitting the wood smaller?
Thanks in advance,
-mike

Max log size is 16.5” It’s a new stove there will be a leaning curve. Start fires top down. 5” splits are big. This is a small stove.

The 7110 is a wonderful small stove, but the emphasis is on small. Maybe consider a cast iron clad stove that will be much less radiant than the Encore and run smaller loads in it. In non-cat, consider the Jotul F35 and the PE Alderlea T4. In catalytic, look at the BK Ashford 20.
