No, it is a shop wet dry vac. With a fine filter on it, it will do the trick on a cold stove. I like the idea of it being metal. If there is a sneaky hot a ash, it may just give another layer of protection. By no means should someone get a false sence of security with this. But for the price, it will do a darn good job for alot less money than with an ash vac that you still have to use caution with. I have used a plastic one for three years without problem. Keep it empty and clean. Put all ash in a covered metal container that is sat on a non combustible surface and away from anything that can catch fire.It's a nice vac, but is it made for vacuuming ash from pellet stoves?
