Hello. New member looking for some suggestions. The nitty gritty........we bought this house 6 years ago. It had a woodstove in it. It was old, broken glass, etc. It was removed along with the single wall pipe going to the through wall. Outside is Metalbestos SS chimney pipe. I have six 3' sections going up from the T coming. We recently bought a Drolet Savannah II. Excited to get it going. Went with duravent double wall inside as we wanted to keep the stove closer to the wall and there wasn't enough clearance from the pipe to the ceiling to allow for single wall. The previous owner apparently didn't mind. I don't want to burn the place down. Recently brought a chimney pipe brush. Took off the T bottom clean out cover and discovered a few birds nests. Got them out. Cleaned out the pipe. My concern and a real one is the T is in rough shape inside. The inner wall has deteriorated and is falling apart around where the turn is for the bottom cleanout. The rest of the pipe looks OK from what I can tell. I'm inclined to take it all down for further inspection. My big concern is obviously the T. My understanding is Metalbestos is now Selkirk. I cant find a new Selkirk T locally so I'd have to order it or drive 2 hours to see/buy one.
Does anyone know if a new Selkirk T will work with exsisting metalbestos chimney pipe? They thought of having to replace all 18' of chimney pipe makes my stomach churn and my wallet cry. 😂 It's gotten cooler here in CT. Id really like to get the stove fired up. I won't do it with the T in it's current state. If I can find a T to replace this one I'd be in good shape I think to test it out. Any ideas? My hope is the new T will work with the exsiting pipe.
