New electric water heater makes shower cold?

New electric heater installed. We have two showers in the house. I took a shower. My spouse used the warm water in the sink... my shower got cold. This never happened with our propane water heater.

I just installed a new shower with a temperature balancing shower fixture to prevent just such and occurrence. Its made by Moen. It automatically adjusts the incoming hot and cold water to maintain temps even when flow is reduced due to other draws on the system

1. Do you have an idea why this issue started after the install of an electric water heater?

2. How do they work? Wouldnt a sensor need some kind of electronic to regulate the temp?

Shouldnt make any difference what is making your hot water. But when you draw hot water from another feed you reduce the amount of hot going to the shower. The balancing valve does NOT use any type of electronics. Only quick fix would be to lower the temp of your hot water to the point where you dont have to add any cold ,then your shower may get slower when there is another draw but will be just as hot.

To figure out why -We need some information.
What type of electric water heater?
Tank or on Demand?
If Tank - How many Gallons does it hold and how ma ny amps?
If On Demand (Panel and no tank or Panel with storage tank?) How many amps is it?
What is the flow rate of the shower?
Take a gallon bucket and a stop watch.
See how many seconds it takes to put a gallon of water in it?
My shower is 1 Gallon Per Min so easy to heat.
My tub is 4 gallons per min and needs a flow valve to reduce it to 1-2 gallons for electric heating,
Oil Boiler heats 4 GPH no problems so I can switch back for a fast fill tub bath

You are trying to heat?
City water from the street this time of year is
About 45 Degrees
My 40 gallon storage tank is about 60-70 degrees to make it easier for the On Demand Panel.

When you installed it what plumbing to the tank did you change? Sure you turned the water back on fully? and all valves.. Tank should have had no effect on your shower. Is the new tank at the same temp as your old?

A few things. The electric has 2 elements. New, both should be working, but when one of mine died we ran out of hot water quickly. What temp was the old one and did you set the new one. I like mine much hotter than the preset. This temp can cause the balance to be touchy. Those balance valve have been around for some time. I believe there mechanical working on pressure.

With what we know about this (which isn't a lot), and all else being equal - it sounds simply like the new heater is set for a lower temperature than the old one was.
