Hello everyone,

I am new to the site but have done alot of reading here and find this site quite useful. I am looking at installing a gassification boiler this summer and would like some input on two specific models. I am looking at the Eko 40 and the Greenwood 100(leaning more towards the Eko because of efficency). I have a 120 year old farmhouse with little newspaper left in the walls( this will be replaced with spray foam). Only baseboard i have is in the first floor, but may add some to the upstairs. I kinda like it colder for sleeping. Wood is free but mostly white maple, birch, ash, beech. Letting the Oak grow for now. Can these two gasifiers produce enough hot water without storage for a night? I will be adding storage later on. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My guess is that the Eko 40 will make it through most nights so long as the heatload is not outrageous. You will need insulation for sure! You will also need to add enough baseboard (or something else) to be able to heat with a lower temp. A drafty house and undersized heating zones are not good conditions for these gasifiers. They are amazing appliances but do not have the ability to quickly produce a lot of hot water like an oil boiler does. That is one of the reasons storage is a good idea. It evens out the performance as well as other benefits.
