Planning to buy a Vermont Castings Encore Non Cat but not sure if my house chimney height will work.
House is contemporary open floor plan split 3 levels, with the LR, DR, kitchen on the mid level, bedrooms/bath on the top level.
Existing chimney is brick, located in the INTERIOR in the middle of the LR room, not on the exterior perimeter.
Wood stove to be located on the existing fire place hearth, rear exit with 6" optional collar (usual size is 8"- have to stay 6" due to chimney size)pipe with T connector bend thru the fire place with stainless steel liner all the way up the chimney. Bottom of wood stove to top of chimney exit is about 13 feet. VC exit discharge is probably about 2' 6"
Intend to use the VC Encore with the doors closed.
House is leaky with all year round window air conditioners leakage.
No real house exhaust except for bathroom exhaust when taking shower.
With the interior chimney in mind, would the height work ok for chimney draft?
Would extending the liner discharge up a couple of feet make a difference?
Appreciate any insight . thanks
