Now...... I just need to figure out ways to write-off/depreciate a $30k vehicle against the $2000 I make in yearly wood sales.

That reminds me. My Dodge has that rubberized or whatever liner in the bed. I've never owned a truck before, but I grew up on a farm and I've seen my share of work trucks with beds. Every truck I own from here on out will have the money spent on this kind of liner. Anybody else swear by these?

I swear by steel plate decked flatbeds, but the rubber stuff seems to be pretty good too. The bed floor will still get bent, but it won't rust away to nothing. The rubber stuff is also not slippery like a plastic bed liner.

You're allowed to declare a loss for 3 years before the IRS deems it a hobby. Go online -- $100 will get you an LLC in which profits (or losses) will flow through to your personal income.

Depreciate that, your saws, expense gas, etc....

aluminum is better. I wish I had one. toolboxes underneath and all the bells and whistles. It would be on my F550 4x4 Diesel crew cab. lol.

nah, I wouldn't be throwing rounds on it. I'd be using the Grapple I've installed on my imaginary truck to pick up log lengths and set them down gently.

yeah, yeah. You are right. Sorry!

So, anyway, which engine does that have in it? I don't even know what the 3/4 Ton Chevrolets can get. Both my father-in-law and my dad have Duramax's. One likes his, the other doesn't; they both have had problems.

Too bad you can't still get the 8.1 gas with the Allison Trans - that was a great combo, I miss mine. Except paying for gas.

Yep, should have bought it on 12/31/10 so you could have written half of it off today.

Yeah, good luck. My '83 1-ton hauls/tows 1.75 cord at a time, 10mpg., and I have less than $1,100.00 into it. Not braggin', just sayin'. It's a friggin truck (mine that is).

Yes, I had my whole truck covered in Line-X.

It's nice not having to worry about scratches and minor dings. With my Line-x and headache rack I'll pitch splits into the bed from twenty feet away, no biggie if I miss.

Hi -

It's like a grown-up version of my Silverado 1/2 ton, club cab, 6' box ; )

I put Timbren pads on the rear axle, and the heaviest rubber pad in the bed I could find. It gets 10-15 cord a year where it needs to go.

A coulpe weeks ago a woman ran out of her house and flagged me down. When I stopped she looked confused and said "Sorry - I thought you were with the electic company!". Plain wrapper I guess.

Just log all miles used to haul wood that your selling. Must have documentation to write them off. Then of course you have to claim the money your paid for the wood.
