Running low on wood as it has been colder than usual. Found a young guy locally on CL who had "seasoned" wood. $190 per cord, delivered. His dump body is 6' x 8' and he had the logs neatly stacked about 2 1/2 feet high. Pretty close to a cord. Mostly oak, some maple. He told me it was cut down two years ago and split last summer.

Some of the pieces are pretty heavy, but most is burnable. I have attached, I think, a photo of the pile, less one wheelbarrow full.

I have also attached a photo of my staging area with next's year's wood in process. On the right are rounds I bought for $130 per cord and in the background, not very clear under the snow, are tree tops I had delivered for $100 per load (6' x 8' x 3').

I have room for 2 1/2 cords under my deck, just outside the basement door. It is full now from the drier wood I bought and some emergency stash Ash that I had dropped (standing dead) 2 years ago.

Looks like you have a great setup and nice lot.

Looks like you'll be ready for next year for sure.
Nice looking pile,
will look even better when stacked up off the ground;)

looking good...i'm just about out. i have to pick up some rounds i've had down for over a year now and get them split...might have enouh to finish the winter. if now, i'll buy now and throw in next years quota. bad time to buy though...might be able to find some standing deadwood.

It's not on the ground. It's stacked on a layer of splits. Looks good to me! ;-)

That pile looks like there isn't much bark left on it, good sign of dry or close to dry firewood. I'd keep that firewood dealer. Less messy to boot.

Man town is looking good! Enjoy

Ain't it good to see a lot of wood! Nice piles! Can't wait to see how my red oak will burn when it's finally seasoned - planning on a red oak year in 2011/2012! Cheers!
