I have about 5 cords cut and stacked that has been drying for a few months already and nearly all had been down a year or more when I cut it and split it. That's what I plan on burning this year. I saw on CL where a couple of guys near me have 100 cords of mixed hardwoods ready for delivery for 75 dollars a cord or 65 dollars for 2 or more cords. They say the cords will be 4x4x8 and offer face cords as well so it seems they know what they are talking about. Anyway, I'm thinkin about getting 2 cords for use in 2011 and slow down a little myself for awhile. Does this price seem about right? Seems low from what I have read some people pay and I wonder if it is to good a deal. Wonder if I should get 1 cord just to see what it's like and how much there actually is. What do you think?

At 65 a cord I would buy 10-20 cords and let mine dry for 4 years. Properlly stacked and covered it should last for years. Heck, even popar is worth 65 a cord

@65 per cord most would buy.

I pay $125 - $130 per cord for softwoods, and consider it a fair price around here. If I could get mixed hardwood for $65/cord, I'd buy as much as I could fit on my property with an eye toward leaving at least some of it to my heirs. %-P Rick

Is that delivered? My out of pocket for free wood is about $15/cord and then a couple hours to get it and a couple hours to split it. $65 seems pretty reasonable even compared to free wood.

Ya seems like a good deal. Even if it's unseasoned it's still a deal.

Make sure they are full cords not face cords

At 65 a full cord I'd buy all I could afford...I'd get a bank loan if I had to. Jump on that deal.

Cut, split and delivered mixed hardwood is around $180-210 a cord around here. $65 a cord you should get whatever you can. Clarify with them if thats a delivered price and if its been cut and split, log length or go cut your own.

The best prices in my area around lake Erie that I've seen are 100-120 cord and go up to 180 a cord delivered, split, unknown dryness. I agree and would buy all I could, after verification.

65 bucks a cord, thats just silly! I'd buy a $*!+load for that price even though I like processing my own. Those guys must not value their time if they're selling wood that cheap.

The only way to sell wood that chep is your running out of room and your getting paid to move it in the first place. I would take a couple cords at that price...If stack!

+1

Thats cheaper than free wood. :bug: Beetle killed spruce is $225 a cord cut into rounds and not split around here..
I pay $65 a cord to go pick it up in log length out of the bush. You guys got it made. I do scrounge what I can with my quad when I have time. But you gotta be a mountain goat to get wood here with your free wood permit. I would call that an awsome deal. Almost to good to be true.

I would be on that in a minute. By whatever you can afford.

Where about in KY is this wood? I live near Louisville and I might be interested in some myself.

Lburg. No I haven't got any yet. Want to but not sure yet. I also started the post about a cord of wood in a minivan. That's what they deliver in and I emailed him and asked about him getting a cord of wood in the minivan and he said he could and said it would be a full cord. A full cord of hardwood weighs between 2 and 4 thousand pounds according to several different websites. I am assuming the weight variation would be depending on type and amount of seasoning for particular cord. That's a lot of weight for a minivan and one reason for my hesitancy in ordering several cords. Guess I need to get one load and see what the deal is and get more if all is well. Never know til I try.

DMX 512. The wood is in Lexington and is advertised on Craigslist.

Make sure you get pictures when they deliver it, and the expression on their face when you tell them that's not a full cord, take it away.
