I have a MT Vernon stove and love it. However its make a load bang noise usually during the startup process. I am assuming it sheet metal expanding or something. Is this normal?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Thanks
Dave

I never hear any noise when it starts back up, although when its on high the fan can sound a little loud.

If the stove is cold and you are just starting up it is normal, I have had it happen many times. If it is happening between heating cycles or auto-cleans then I would say it is not normal.

Same here. I get a few sounds on startup from cold, but nothing once it has warmed up. I wouldn't describe it as loud though.

My dealer has an ae that does the bang thing at start up. He said it has something to do with the expansion of the metal in the stove.

My Mt. Vernon will make semi-loud pinging noise on a cold startup. This is normal! Ticking or vibration noises, however, are not...
