Been running my new Mount Vernon, freestanding, for about a month now. Have the wall thermostat set with the auto program setting as I would with my furnace... meaning I have it set at a lower (65) level while we are sleeping, and a higher setting (75) for just before we wake in the morning.... etc.
I notice sometimes, when the stove revs up to meet the call for higher heat output that it sounds like a wind tunnel going up through the vent. There is a loud humming noise that sounds like it is coming from the vent pipe. It is almost as if the vent pipe is vibrating from the amount of exhaust that is going up through it. Sometimes, the hearth pad and floor shake. Is this normal ?
The stove was installed by the shop I purchased through and is vented into an existing masonry chimney through the existing 6 in thimble that the wood stove went through.
