I flipped the wrong switch in our circuit breaker and turned off our stove. When it turned back on the the stove went into autoclean. The problem is that it dumped burning pellets in the ash pan. This does not seem very safe. I this normal
 
See page 24 of your manual (I'm assuming that the insert manual I have is about the same).

The auto-clean system will clean itself immediately on
initial plug in. If there is a power outage, as soon as power
is restored it will automatically clean itself.
 
Sounds normal to me.
