Got a no heat call from my mom just after i got home from spackling/painting at her office.
The no heat is at her house. I forgot to take a pic of the boiler, i think it's a weil mclain but not sure.
The 3 circulators were all spinning the now cold water from the non firing boiler.
The automatic damper motor (Mizer 35BC-4 ) was making noise sounding like it was spinning, but the damper was not moving. I noticed the damper was a bit short of straight up and down so i turned it with my fingers and the boiler fired right up.
The motor continued to sound like it was spinning.
So ok we're good for now. Heat back on. Also green light on the actuator housing is now lit.
Then i continued to turn the damper to the shut position and the boiler shut down, green light is now OFF
Ok that's good safety wise.
I Turned the damper back to fully open and the boiler fires right back up. Green light back ON.
Ok, Good again.
The motor is still sounding like its spinning.
Seems the damper shaft is not attached to the motor (like striped gears or something like that) but is still triggering the safety and fire up controls.
So i need to replace the damper motor / actuator, But it's not available anymore and i can't find any replacement parts.
I went on a furnace Site but the only discussion was with a field controls replacement that did not work, it was unclear whether it was a wiring issue or an off center version?
Anyway i'm looking for help on just replacing the motor / actuator if i can find a suitable part.
Anyone have any input on this? Thanks in advance.
