Milling Question

I will be stopping by our local shop to purchase a 660 with a 36 inch bar for milling, what do some of you use for rails so your first cut is flat and do you have any pictures?

straight,flat Doug Fir 2 x 12 7ft long with 1/4" thick 2" x 2" angle iron full length screwed to each edge of bottom side for stability & help keep it true.

Leveled across with 2ft mason's level,length-wise with level resting on top of 2 x 4 with no warp,bow or twist.

Anchored to log with 3 #10 x 3" square head screws.

Same as thisle, and a Cordless screw driver. Sheems can be pretty handy at times.

At a couple GTGs a guy cut our cants before the race and did it pretty much same way.

You sure can. You can get a package deal at Bailey's (Mill,double end bar,helper handle,aux oiler & ez rail system) for a bit less than buying each item separately. Also direct from Granberg International,not exactly sure what their price is for the set.
