Here's a new one. Burn wet wood since it has the "wood alcohol" in it.....
[Hearth.com] Mental gymnastics

First I have heard of that one. To ferment it would need exposure to yeast. And one would think that if there was alcohol in the wood it would burn faster. The fact is that wood with a high moisture content burns slower because the heat is vaporizing the water to steam.

Prior to our first season burning wood, I told my wife we really need to start some wood seasoning. In typical fashion she thought I was wrong. Well we froze like I knew we would, got green wood in October and she expected to burn it that day. Best part of the whole deal? We got stacks of seasoned wood now after freezing for a season there is zero argument about wood, seasoning time, amounts, nothing.

the postulation above is completely off base. 2/3 thirds of the btus are consumed in vaporizing the excess moisture leading to a cold fire and creosote build up in the flue. above 12% and less than 18% is the magic area.

I didn't even bother to reply to the comment once somebody is dug in this hard there's no way you're going to change their mind it's just worth a chuckle in my opinion.
