Loose fit between stove flue and adapter. There's quite a bit of play, I believe around 1/4" or so and I am looking for the best way to close this gap. It wiggles freely and sits completely into the flue with no contact to the outside. The flue and the adapter are 6 inch but I have read that often flue size can vary by manufacturer for whatever reason.

Bending the crimped section out would be making the bottom wider than the top and that seems nonsensical. I was thinking about adding an small section of crimped stove pipe into the flue securing it with screws and then putting this adapter into that. Making it a smaller diameter than what I have currently.
Any suggestions are welcome, thanks in advance.

This is typical of the DVL adapter on stoves. It fits too loosely. I have written to DuraVent, but with no response. Try fitting the DVL pipe directly to the stove without the adapter. That should work.
