Question:

I have a 40+ yr. old house with a couple of loose bricks in the part where the fire is built. what is the proper way to repair this? Thank you.

Answer:

You can use regular mortar...or better yet, refractory mortar (available at masonry supply yard, home depot, etc. to repair. Clean and wet the affected area first.
