[Hearth.com] Looking for parts GFS28 Vented Gas Fireplace - Blaze Industries of Canada
Hello, I have a vented gas fireplace that is probably 40 years old made by Blaze Industries of Canada (not Blaze King). It appears they are now out of business. The model is GFS 28. I am told it needs a new gas pump and power generator if anyone has an idea as to where these could be found? Thank you

Thanks Bob, it is rented at the moment so I do not have a picture of that, would it be a common part potentially? I only have this one.

What parts exactly are you looking for?

Thermopiles are fairly generic. No idea what a gas pump is? But you definitely need to disassemble and clean that pilot

I am not sure either, unfortunately not my trade. Good to know they are generic. That picture is pre-clean. I had them in to clean it and get it restarted and that is when I found out all this stuff is not working. I did just get a quote to do this work for $1200 as of 30mins ago. No idea if $1200 is reasonable but happy it sounds like it can be fixed. Appreciate the help!

I also have no idea what a gas pump would be, and for that reason I would be looking for someone different to fix it. $1200 sounds like way too much cash. I am a gas fitter but I don't have a ton of experience with gas fireplaces. Usually it is one part that fails and causes a unit to fail, rarely two things at once. I can see there being excess wear on a few items though.

Again I don't know what a gas pump is. I am not a gas filter, but I run a professional gas hearth repair business. A tune up on this with a new thermopile would cost you $245. That is in a fairly expensive part of Massachusetts for reference. Maybe they diagnosed a bad gas valve? Even at that it's a 1.5 hr job and still a third that cost. I'm probably at the lower end of the pay range for what it's worth.
