We bought a house with a Kitchen Queen 480. Wood burner works great, but we would like to replace with a smaller wood burner. We don't use the oven or cook top. I have been trying to find out the value of the Kitchen Queen, I just haven't seen any of these used units for sale. Stove is in good condition and we have the stainless steel water tanks for it. Does any body have an idea of the value or what we can use for a starting asking price?
Thanks for any input.

Price depends on condition, and with a niche product like that, what somebody is willing to pay. Finding a group of people who are looking for them, maybe homesteaders or preppers, could probably get you a better price.

They sell new for around $4,000. I would expect used value to be at least half that depending on internal condition and age. It's a limited market so be patient. The main issue will be transport. List it widely in craiglist, Facebook marketplace, reddit wood stoves, and homesteading forums.

coaly may have some additional ideas.

That looks like new. I would not settle for less than half the cost of new.

The new models now have secondary combustion air and thermostat control added to this older model and use 6 inch pipe , where this will be 7. They work fine on 6 straight up, technically against code to reduce. But they are a UL Listed appliance as long as yours still has the UL Label.

Heaviest stove I ever moved, out of hundreds. The only update this really needs is the oven thermometer reads the oven temperature inside the double door panels which is about half the actual internal oven temperature. A probe type (Cooper) thermometer only requires a hole to be drilled through the stainless inner door liner.

Newer models have galvanized oven instead of stainless like this one.

If this were in PA I would buy it immediately for $2000, add the upgraded thermometer, thermostat and secondary burn tubes like I did mine and sell it for $3000.

This is my only heat source and prefer it over a commercial gas range next to it. You’re missing out cooking with it. The oven is 300*f all winter and ready to go anytime. Secondary combustion allows a smaller fire remaining clean with lower output.

I’ve been searching for a 380 for years for my off grid log cabin and will end up buying new if I can’t find one. There are definitely people looking for these.

Edit: If you have any Amish communities around you, post hand written ads for it in their stores, produce stands, and places they frequent. It will depend on the local Bishop and what each sect uses as far as make and model, each district tends to use the same brand for reasons not to compete or out do one another, just like silos, clothes, and buggies being the same style and color within each group. These are heavier duty than others, known for canning operations or even commercial use in their homes.
