The Northeastern Loggers Expo is being held once again this friday and sat. in Essex Jct, Vt....here is the web site

Anyone interested in light and heavy equipment, from chain saws to firewood producers, and from boilers to chippers, might want to attend....

I was able to go two years ago and there were a number of displays of wood boilers - I see lots of folks in the exhibitor list including Bioheat, Econoburn, Garn and others!

Bioheat has offered to provide some drinks, snacks and a meetup place at their outdoor exhibit on Sat at noon. I am not able to make it, but have sent them a small supply of Hearth.com caps as well as a bunch of Hearth.com labeled SuperCedar firestarters.

Chris Hoskin of Bioheat had the idea of providing the refreshments and a "real life" meetup place for Forum members - his actual invite is below:
"Saturday at Noon we will have some food and drinks at the BioHeatUSA outdoor exhibit (booth C16/17) and the first dozen folks to show up will get a hearth.com hat! This will be a great chance to gather, meet people in person, share stories, brag, pontificate, and celebrate the vibrant community that is The Boiler Room. In other words, a real-world version of the online experience. As on the forum, All Are Welcome regardless of what kind of boiler you have or IF you have a boiler at all. Please post a reply to this announcement if you are planning to be there so we can get some idea of numbers. We look forward to seeing you all!”"

I like the photos. Lots of neat big toys. Wish I was close by, it looks cool.

I'm tentatively hoping to be there Saturday around noon... if I get out of some local School Board forums in time to make it up there by then. I look forward to hopefully meeting a number of the 'Boiler Room Regulars" in person.

We're currently discussing the possibilities of a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants trip to VT to take in the show and meet with some industry friends. It's looking kind of tough to squeeze in at this point, but you never know. I was at the show in Bangor last year... truly excellent.

Well, if they run out of hats........have them take names and addresses and forward them to me. I just got another batch, but no time to forward them up there!

I would love to show up just to be in N. VT and say hi....and normally would just take off and do it, but I'm dealing with medical issues with the kids (well, really adults, but my daughters never the less)....I'm learning quick about that definition of us 50-somethings as "the sandwich generation".
 
I made the pilgrimage to the Expo this afternoon and am very glad that I traveled up there. It was great to meet a number of of the Boiler Room regulars in person (and a wonderful opportunity to bounce some ideas off of NoFossil). I got to drool on a FrolingFHG Turbo 3000 (wow, what a brilliantly designed unit) thanks to BioHeat (thanks also to BioHeat for hosting, providing sandwiches, etc), visit with some of the Econoburn folks, check out a Portage & Main boiler in person (I was _very_ inpressed with the design and construction), and, thanks to Chris Holley fron FHS, to climb right down into the manway hatch of a Garn (how many boilers are built stoutly enough to stand on their heat exchangers and climb right in?). Also got to meet Joe Brown from BrownianHeating.com in person. And, thanks, Webmaster, I got a Hearth.com hat.
 
Had a great time at the expo. Lots of iron there. If the tire chains weigh a half ton, what do you suppose the rigs weigh. Did you notice the earth tilting a little toward Vermont the last couple of days? It's because all that weight was in Essex Junction. The Pelletier logging family was there but I didn't get a chance to try out my French accent on them.
Got a guided tour of the Garn. First time I had seen one! The Portage & Main booth was so busy I didn't get a chance to go over the unit.
I was thrilled to meet several forum regulars at the Bioheat booth.
A big THANKS to the people at Bioheat for putting up with us. Chris (Bioheat Sales Guy) was busy with shoppers most of the time so he wasn't able to take part in the chatter, however I overheard his conversations with potential customers and I was very impressed with the way he treated them and his knowledge of the product. I've been exposed to retail for much of my life and have watched customer service deteriorate over the years so it was refreshing to see a real pro in action. Bioheat (and the forum) is lucky to have him.
 
Great show, and it's nice to put faces with names. Lots of great conversations with Hearth members and vendors. I'll echo the comment about Bioheat's professional dealings with customers. It's all too rare these days, and refreshing to see.

Missed Joe Brown, though - dang!
