Got this bulliten the other day, i think it would be wise for all you montage owners out there to contact your dealer.

To Our Valued Customer:

Montage™ Pellet Stove Sales Suspended

In January you were notified about the importance of informing all users to adjust their Lennox
Montage™ pellet stove air dampers per the installation instructions and addendum supplied
(Technical Alert TA 2009-01, January 21, 2009). If the damper is not set up to provide
adequate air to support combustion, pellets can pile up in the grate and back up the feed
tube and a fire can occur in the hopper.
We have not had reports of operating issues with Montage units installed and set-up per our
instructions and used as intended including burning bona fide standard or premium grade pellet
fuel. We have received feedback, however, that units put into operation without proper set up and
operated with lower quality fuel than specified have experienced operational issues in the field.
We are taking actions to increase the resilience and performance of our control system on the
Montage to address issues that could occur if stoves are improperly set up or being operated with
inferior fuel. While our testing is continuing and should be completed soon, these actions will
include:
• An enhanced control board for better overall performance
• Improved start-up sequencing
• An air damper stop to assure minimum opening is maintained
• Addition of a “Quick Start” guide to the homeowner’s kit; while not a substitute for the
complete operation manual, this folder will highlight the importance of key issues like flame
appearance, proper fuel, air damper adjustment, maintenance and more
We are completing our validation of the changes and anticipate implementing them on all future
shipments. Out of an abundance of caution, we have chosen to suspend Montage shipments
until the changes are fully implemented and request that you also suspend the sale of units
in your inventory until it is upgraded.

Please note there is not a safety issue for existing units that are properly installed and used as
intended. As a precaution, however, we are requesting that all Montage units in the field be
upgraded and that Montage owners be advised to disconnect the thermostat until field
modifications are made.
Soon a Montage Field Enhancement Kit will be available, at no charge, to upgrade installed units to
the new design. We anticipate that the upgraded new units and enhancement kits will be available
in a few weeks when our validation is complete.
We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you, your customers and employees. We are
working diligently to ensure this situation is handled responsibly and efficiently. The Montage has
been well received by the public and LHP is confident that the upgraded product will provide
satisfactory service and will be part of our offering for many years to come.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.
