Last weekend I cut up and hauled 4 loads of walnut from a site about 12 miles away. I have a coworker that logs on the side and he had cut two semiloads of walnut logs out of the property. Just the tops were left and he used a logging winch and tractor to pull some up to where I could get to them with my trailer. First time I've seen a logging winch in action and it was impressive...

Also have a couple pics showing this season's remnants and my stickpile of limbwood ready for bucking. I had to restack the limbwood after my 8 yr old's visiting friend decided it would be fun to unstack it one afternoon. Such fun! :-)

Enjoy!

Nice, tops are a great score for a scrounger easy to handle and they quickly add up.

+1 great score!

good score looks like you'll be busy for awhile

Good score and now you have more work to do....but it is pleasant work or can be pleasant.

We've gone from winter to MUD in the last week.

Once things firm up again I hope to get to the bucking, splitting and stacking I put off all winter. :red:

Looks like I will be well under 6 cord this season...a new low wood usage record for us.

Very nice score.
Log winch to your trailer, you're are "officially spoiled" :)
Good job!

in the first picture I see a bunch of locust near the bottom of the stack, and other stuff that isn't all Black Walnut. looks like a nice score.

Good Eye! The stick pile is mostly locust from a 20 mile scrounge last fall...there is a bunch of locust under the walnut in all the pics. There's even some pine in this pile...a little bit of everything. Soon the ash borer will make ash the predominate firewood available locally.

This photo shows a standing dead elm I took last April...I just put the last of it through the tarm last week. That was some great wood!
I rented a spiltter last august and split the whole thing in a weekend. I'd take all the elm I could get. I noticed another one standing dead last summer that I may get after soon.

Enjoy!
