I have used free standing stoves for years. But Inserts are a new experience. I was starting to be very interested in Kuma Cascade after watching something that showed it sticking way out of fireplace. I want it sticking out for heat and possibly cooking on. But then I noticed in some cases the Cascade looked like it was flush. Is having it stick out an option? Never woulda guessed it might be a choice. Thank GOD for this forum. I am too stupid not to steal other peoples ideas.

They make good stoves, though they have a different hybrid design than BK, but the quality is good, as well as the support. It's a family run business. Give them a call or email with questions.

But do you know if it can be installed flush or stick out on the hearth?
I think the depth of the insert is variable. Give them a shout.

BeGreen is correct, it is variable. If you want to cook on it, verify surface area that is out front and flat. Our PI29 would not be enough space for a skillet, just a small pot/kettle.
