I scored a nice load of scrap heat treated wood cut offs from work yesterday. Sure helps to get the stove up and moving when you have some really good and dry kindling to start things off!
I think that husky made it clear they were not treated wood. Cedar or redwood is wood that can be used with no treatment and it is very rot resistant. Railroad ties are treated with creosote and are good for nothing except landscaping. Not at all the same animal.[/quot
Even if they don't look treated, you can't always tell, unless you know for sure what's been done to those poles your taking a risk that is unnecessary. Most poles in the US have been treated, why gamble on something like this, use them for landscaping, not your wood stove......
