Where it gets cold
Hello,
The 118 is fired up....... Very nice! I must say...
I would just like to feel like I am using the F118 (process of making wood ash)
the way sought out to be intended by the creators of this fine
instrument of luxury. Yes, to burn wood efficiently. and get heat output... as well as duration.

I did install a flue damper.... and the stove pipe ,,,, ended up being 5"on stove pipe --->6" Class A Chim(inside in a chase).
Have a stove Thermometer near the flue outlet........

Thanks, SOup

So I will just add on here....

Been going since the 26th.......
Last night...... go down.... check it out....... It is 300F....
Ok, open it up....... no know wood inthere.....
Just hot coals........ and it was 300F..... Geeze.........
TIme for doing some Smithing...............Well, not exactly......(bad location)
BUT, to express...... that this bed of coals has done wonders.....
and with this base of coals..... today was incredible....
really nice heat.... Permeating heat..... that is the difference....

Tonight, well.... will load it up... and let "next shift"...... tend to it.....

My thing here though..... Is I don't want to talk about what I am doing.....
I wanted to know..... more about the "CIGAR Burn"........ Cuz, I open it up...
I put wood in....... and then I look later......... I am not setting up any CIGAR burn style...
So I am calling on
Any qualified::
Jotul F118 Fire Artificer
Let's talk about the acquired "Cigar Burn"

Are there any out there?
Thanks, Soup

It is the red tunnel. F118......

Just sorta forgot about my needing to tend to the flame......
Found;;; Just a bed of coals..... expelling heat........
Raked 'em forwards...(boughten a nice littl' rake)
Threw some nice hunks of wood inside towards the back....
Placed some shorter ones in front(sorta like double parking- littl' stack)
Shorter ones are sitting more in the coals, where as the ones in back are not.
Set air @ W.O.T(wideOpenThrottle) -- temp climbs some...
Hear the draw increase- peek in to see the flame...... The tunneling begins
Kick back the air; throttle down inlet air; listening to pitch change
in the red tunnel of fire.......
