Has anyone successfully used the TempSure.net temp monitor with the blue/black finish on the Jotul 400?

About 14 yrs. ago someone on hearth.com was making monitors and I bought one from him but we had to change out the magnet end because it wasn't reading correctly because of the dimpled surface of the blue/black finish. So, therefore my question: Will the TempSure correctly read the dimpled surface of the blue/black finish on my Jotul 400?

IDK but, I wanted to say.... I love that color.

What location is the probe being placed at?

Not a probe. Horseshoe shaped magnet placed top right corner.

I agree! My 14 yr. old stove still looks like new. The "BBO" in my signature references a member of the Blue/Black Oslo group that jokingly used to exist here on hearth.com. :)

I don’t think the dimpled finish has much impact. And if you are reading temps it does have to be taken from that location. I have taken readings from all over the stove and just correlate them with the top front corner. An IR thermometer is useful.

Reading flue gas temps is now my preferred method.
