We got about 6" of snow the other day and of course I had to keep working on the wood pile. The dogs were outside with me running all morning chasing squirrels and birds through the snow.

After all that chasing, they are bound to be tired. And isn't it always nice to come in from the cold and that wonderful wood heat really feels great?!

Thanks for the pic. It looks like a ruff life. Laying next to the stove, I think they call that the life of Riley. Don't they. :-) That picture makes me miss our dogs. About 2 1/2 years ago we lost our last dog. About 1 1/2 years before that we lost our other one. Both to old age. Thirteen years for one and fourteen for the other. I am all prepared with the back yard fenced in with gates and all. But the wife wanted me to wait for another year or two. We are into our second year now. Two years will be next August. I think the dog will be coming the end of June. She is a teacher and will be home the whole summer. Good time to get the training started. ;-)

That's a sweet pic, Wish :)

Love it

Great picture!

My chocolate lab has a pillow infront of the stove. Sometimes I'll rest there while tending the fire and she'll give me the look (to back away from her spot!).

It's funny how the dogs and cats will curl up next to a wood stove, but never near a hot air vent from a conventional furnace! LOL. They know real warmth when they feel it!! Our dogs will sometimes sit in front of the stove when we don't have a fire going but know we should!!

Fantastic pic. Very cute.

Looks very familiar!

I almost got a shot of our two dogs, two cats, and my wife all sacked out on the floor in front of the stove last season, but as soon as I moved to get the camera, the dogs decided that I must be planning to do something interesting, and got up to follow. Haven't had the chance to snap a similar scene since then.

Well???

First off, House is dated, late 70's. But its home!

Here is our kitty(Fatty) who loves heat no matter what! It is wood pellet forced air, But forced air it is. Stove resides in the basement and this is all they get for warmth. All the other pets just lounger around anywhere as the whole house is toasty warm, But this girl just loves the vents. We shoe her off and she just heads to another room where another vent resides. Constantly sucks up the heat unless she's eating! If a room is cold we know why?

Just had to share! I know when the heats on! ;-)

One of our cats that has passed on (prior to getting the wood stove) used to sleep on the heat registers when we had forced air in an apartment. Then we moved into a place with the old school cast radiators...and she would sleep with her feet under it and her face wedged between the "fins". When we bought our house and got the gas fireplace, she was in heaven-and NO ONE was moving her away from it when it was on!

What do they say? Something like . . ."Dogs sleep so hard, because they have to rest from loving so much" or something like that.
