Is this the air intake for my harman 52i pellet stove? Why do I need to buy an outside air kit for $300 when i can just connect a flexpipe to this ?

That is the intake for combustion air, not the OAK, & yes, you can attach a flexible metal tube at that location. If you are going to create a hole thru an exterior wall, I would suggest you use a short piece of pvc pipe to go thru the wall, with a 90 degree elbow turned downward on the outer end & seal any gaps with 30-year silicone. Connect your flex to the inside section of the pvc & attach a screen to the outside, covering the ID.. This will keep the critters out…

Thank you. Just finished the job. Working fine. Saved lots of money using scrap parts in the garage.

Total cost : I paid some guy off Craigslist 75 bucks to drill a hole with a SDS Max 3.5" core bit carbide tips.
