I believe it is. Was hoping for something with more BTU. It was a blown over so I bucked it and split it....

Looks like it. Quite a bit of punk too.
 
Does look like Silver Maple. The big one we had taken down had lots of hollow limbs. My opinion (based on nothing in particular) is that once those things hit 50 they're a liability.
 
Yes it is. My BIL had two huge ones taken down last week. He asked me if I wanted the wood. Thanks but no thanks.
Half hollow and punky. Not worth the work processing it. If you need the firewood it's fine.
It will burn seasoned for a year or so.
 
Yeah, that is what I thought. It will be perfect for shoulder season.
I don't mind the work, and hate to see wood go to waste.
