I've attached a picture of my CAT probe and wondering if it's calibrated correctly. This is at room temp, 64F, stove hasn't been used in months.

Thanks!

When I bought my Hearthstone Castleton this past July the dealer told me not to pay a lot of attention to the thermometer. Even when the dial says active, burn the stove for 40-45 minutes and then kick in the cat. After running my VC Intrepid II for 33 years I found the Castleton to be a different horse! Top down lighting is the only way to go. The thing with the Castleton is it is only 14" deep so N-S is a bit tricky.

Mine looks slightly different, and it sits at the first “tick” mark.

Mustard Tiger, it needs calibration to the first tic mark. Dieselhead's is correct.

Thats what I was thinking. My probe looks different than DieselHead's photo though. Guessing it should be calibrated to that first break in the line that goes around the edge?

Do I calibrate it to here:

Well, that's a change. I don't know what the proper point is for this unit. It's one for BKVP to clear up.

If I had to guess I’d calibrate it to the beginning of the line, with the tick marks. Let’s see what the veep has to say.

A dial with numbers and a clear line for active and cold calibration would be cool. It is unfortunate that they added a decorative ring of random tick marks to make things more difficult.
