I have an Intrepid II (Model 1308) that I have used for 17 seasons. Recently, I have heard a whistling sound when I am starting a fire that seems to be coming from where the thermostat cover meets the back panel. I took it off and there was no gasket there and from looking at the manual it doesn't mention a gasket for that area. In my cleaning last year I found a small piece of cast iron in the primary air intake that seems to have broken off from somewhere. The piece doesn't seem to fit anywhere around the thermostat cover. Do I need to put in a gasket or does this call from stove cement?
Thanks.
