Is the pourable insulation as good as the insulation wrap and can it be remove from the chimmney if you would want to go back to a fireplace.
 
It works fine but it will be a collossal mess to deal with if you ever go to remove it.
 
It depends. There's a couple different ways to pour in insulation. If you use something like Thermix, it sets up like a light weight concrete and would not be real easily to remove. It would have to be knocked out. If you pour in vermiculite or perlite, this is a loose fill that could easily be removed. You'd just have to collect it at the base of the blockoff plate.
