I am having trouble finding 4" stainless steel flex pipe to vent a insert. Where does everyone get theirs? The stove shops around here don't have them in stock, either that or they don't want to sell them to the public. How hot are the gases exiting the stove? I have found some 4" alumimun that says its good up to 250 degrees. Will this work? Any suggestions?

Why 4", does your stove require it? Stove we sell you only need $" for high altitude or at sea level where we are you would have to have over 40 ft of venting to need 4".
NO Alum will not work, that it only listed for gas appliances. You need stainless steel. You can find it all over online at various hearth product sales places.
We don't have them in stock either. We order what we need as we need it. Having crap laying around waiting for someone to buy it costs us money. We can order just about anything anyone wants, but you gotta wait for it.

I have seen it on ebay sometimes and it usually runs about $300-$400 for the complete kit depending on the length. This is a link to to a fit kit but I think you can do better on the price. I used stainless flex pipe on my installation and we got it through a HVAC wholesale shop and it was around $300.00 with all the fittings. If you call an HVAC contractor they may also be willing to order it for you. The only problem I have heard with this pipe is that it needs to be vented out of a masonry chimney or something similar. We have double steel walls running up and down the length of our chimney and I was told the flexible pipe is fine for applications like that. I would not use aluminum. I thought about using wood stove pipe but have heard that the gasses created by pellet stoves can be corrosive under certain conditions and stainless is a must for these applications. The other place I would check is Lowes. They sell complete install kits at prices way below what you would pay at a stove dealer.

Thanks for the responses. My insert requires 4" to exit the frame. I am surprised that I can't buy it, in stock, locally. I guess I will have to order it. I did try Lowes but our local one seems to stock pipe for wood and not pellet stoves. I would like to buy locally and not off the internet if at all possible. We spent a couple of hours yesterday trying to find it but came up short without ordering it. I am going into a masonary/tile lined chimney. I will go to the pellet shop and see if they will come closer to the internet pricing. At least I'll give them a shot.
