Was searching for a chainsaw case for my Stihl MS 261 CM and didn't want another bulbous Stihl case. You can't stack anything on top of it, it takes up a huge amount of space and, if you try to put other stuff in the case it always ends up being a hassle.

Enter the Echo case:

This thing is great! It has captive spots for sharpening file, wedges, chainsaw multi-tool, spare spark plug and plenty of extra room for extra chain, bar oil and even has room for a quart of emergency Motomix so you always have fuel handy at a moments notice. You could stuff a lot more in here if you wanted (although my hardhat with integrated hearing protectors and face shield didn't quite fit with my saw in there).

I ordered Echo part #99988801210 for Echo saws with up to 20" bar and it fit my Stihl 261 C-M perfectly. Also, I was surprised they sent me the "value pack" which included a free quart of Echo bar oil and a very high-quality Echo baseball cap because I don't recall the add mentioning a value pack. All for $38.

It required 3-5 minutes of assembly (only tool is a rubber mallet) and it seems very sturdy. Highly recommended even if you Stihl don't have an Echo!

Nice tip! I'm going to get one to go along with my new chinese stihl-clone saw kit. The colors will even match.

Ha, I know when you're pulling my leg! You are far too experienced to be a sucker for a low priced Chinese clone.

Clones are good for those people who look up "gullible" when you tell them "gullible" is a word that's not in the dictionary!

I have the same case. Bulky, but been working for years.

Yes, but the cases that are blow-molded to fit are almost as bulky and twice as awkward. Plus now I can leave my box with spare chains, bar tool, oil, etc. behind. And stack stuff on top of it. So I'm really happy w/it.

Do you have an Echo inside?

I wonder how many people looked up the word gullible?;lol

I have 2 very similar cases ones from old saws. One craftsman and one homelite. Both saws barely broke even before they crapped out.

They stack awesome. One will have my Husky inside, the other, who knows?

Are the cases branded Craftsman and Homelite? I saw a Husqvarna branded one online but it was $10 more. I haven't seen a Stihl branded one. But it would probably cost $20 more! ;lol
