I have found a lot of useful info here. I have read all the posts about the small intrepid but at the end of the day it’s a stove that will fit where we want it and look nice. It’s used but in nice shape. Does this stove have “ air wash” I can’t seem to find a straight answer. I’m also not completely sure how air enters the fire box after coming through the back damper

There are several versions. The newer ones since the 1990s have an airwash. Which model Intrepid is this? Is it catalytic?

it is a model 1990 I also removed the catalyst today and the refractory looks to be in great shape however the cat has some small cracks in side the grates, i cleaned it and put it back in. My phone was dead so i didnt take any pictures. do these small cracks mean it needs to be replaced?

That's an older model. The cat may or may not still be active. Try it out and see, but it wouldn't hurt to have a new one on hand. Before putting it back in, clean out the refractory area with a vac following the manual's guidance on page 33. The refractory engine is fragile so work carefully.
