I almost feel guilty because, for the first time in years, I have lots of dry split stacked beautiful ash and box elder (only for daytime) firewood on our yard.

I almost feel guilty because I have now set up a system where I have the firewood stored right outside our basement window where my children are able to load the wood box in a matter of minutes without dragging any wood dust or chips through the house.

I almost feel guilty that we are able to bring more firewood to the house in a matter of minutes from our main stack using the tractor.

I almost feel guilty that our stacks are well covered and I am not having to bang ice and snow off of the splits this year.

I almost feel guilty that we are building up an emergency stash of firewood under the deck in case of an ice storm or a blizzard so that if I am away from home my wife and kids are not having to fight to get wood in the house.

I almost feel guilty but not quite.

Thank-you. The feeling almost guilty comes from past winters where I was out cutting standing dead all winter trying to stay ahead of the cold.

While we do not have our entire house heated by wood it is sure making a difference in the heating costs and the overall warmth.

No reason for feeling guilty. Sounds like a job well done. In your circumstances, I would plead innocent.

lowroadacres, I have a great solution for your guilt. Just bring all that wood to my house and then you won't feel guilty anymore. :-)

Nice idea.... Good thing I don't really feel guilty.... It would take a really big truck to deliver all of the wood that I feel almost guilty about having ready for the dead of winter. As I type this evening we are watching "The Patriot" while the stove ticks away with beautiful ash splits.

As I think about it maybe guilt isn't what I thought I might have been feeling.... Maybe it is relief? This is such new territory for me to actually be prepared for wood heat season. We are now planning for getting back to cutting wood shortly with more Ash and getting into an oak bluff where the combination of downed dead and beaver will give us a good pile of oak to add to the mix.

It is a good feeling. Enjoy! I didn't really think you would bring me your wood but thought my offer might help you with your guilt trip. Let's see some pics.

Lowroadacres- how do you like those crosscut saws? Or are you primarily on the chainsaw.

Should not feel guilty but proud instead. You will also feel really great all winter long knowing how well prepared you are. Now get busy and cut some more wood. ;-)

Beaver's going after Oak....? Trapped them for quite some time, more like poplar.
