Well, I decided to retire the "big box" 55 rancher and move up a notch or two. I purchased a 365 special on flea bay and received it today......very nice saw, light.
Does anyone have experience (good or bad) with this model? Any clue what the "special" denotes? How can I find out the date of manufacture?

Any inf is appreciated, and thanks in advance,

-Werm

365 has a Zama carb, while the 365 Special has a Walbro.

is there a difference in performance?

I have a Husqvarna 365 Special, about 10 years old now. You can usually check the date of manufacture by checking the black metallic tag (Huskvarna,Sweden) around the top of the Oil refill.
It is a great saw, one of the most reliable tools I have owned. I probably have over 1000 hours on my saw, between firewood and cedar logging. Great power to weight ratio.

performance will be pretty much the same grate solid saw for sure!

It should be good performance either way ... if not the piston/cylinder must be worn out. You better get a new one.
