How to get my wifi enabled pellet stove online.

Hi,
I have an Artel Easy S pellet stove.

It is wifi ready but needs I assume some type of adapter to either connect it over wifi or wired to my router. This is the connection I have at the back. The stove has many functions and parameters that can be set through combinations of the buttons on the stove but I'd like to be able to access this through an app. Any suggestions or advice greatly received.

Welcome to the forum! Not a plug I'm familiar with but my knowledge is limited. Have you talked to the dealer about it? Can't even come up with a manual (well in English) to try to figure out what is needed...

Looks like a plug similar to ones I've seen on pc power supply plug to my graphics card. So I would say that it's some sort of low voltage thingy. I've spoken to the seller in the UK and they are having problems getting an answer from the supplier. There is an English manual that came with it. I'll get it out of storage and report what it says but from memory there wasn't much if any real information on the wifi aspect just maintenance etc.

Manual for my Ecoteck/Ravelli (also Italian) is the same ... very interesting terminology used to translate from Italian to English too. Very similar look to both stoves but there is a serial port on mine. I'm thinking the difference in plugs also reflects the difference in consumer market it is intended for (UK vs US/Canada). It was my understanding that the port is for the dealer for set-up, updating software and troubleshooting. I could be wrong though

Best I've been able to find is this on a Dutch website that says it works with my stove but they don't deliver to the UK! Can't find the same thing anywhere else and my Dutch is none existent to give them a call.

You will need a cable to connect to your computer Usually there is 4 wires which yours has . Normally green black red and yellow. You should look at the back of your connection and see what you have. I think there will be one for ground, one for power, one to send information out and one to bring information in. I use Bixby stoves and that is how they are wired. I used to make cables for the Bixby and that was how I did it. The other end was pictured by another poster a serial port connection. But you will need a program for your computer to do anything and to get that you probably will have to find a dealer or commu icate with the company that made the stove. That 4 wire connection should be found in places like DiGi Key catalog but you will need pins to fit it. You probably can find a cable with the serial end on it from the same source then you just add the plastic connection with the right pins on the other end and you will be ready to go. Sometimes the cable will have 6 wires red, green, black , yellow , brown, and white. Cut off the ones you don't use. Lots of combinations so you have to look at the back of the 4 hole connection and see what you have.

I am not familiar with your stove but i cant see that connector having anything to do with the wifi. It looks like a p4 power connector commonly found on motherboards and graphics cards. its possible the wifi needs its own psu and doesnt draw from the 120v in, but that would be silly. If i had designed that stove, that port would be for a backup battery pack.

Try using your cell phone and look for wifi networks you are not familiar with. your stove might be broadcasting its SSID.

Edit: From what I can find on the Ravelli stove, the GPRS kit is an extra. Somewhere in my travels on multiple pages it appeared to be costed over $400 extra.

Haven't seen mention for the same type of kit for the Artel.

Looked and no SSID for the stove.

From what I've been told most Italian pellet stoves use parts supplied but a few Italian suppliers. I think I'm going to try and email them. Still not heard back after trying to contact manufacturers directly.

Keep us updated on what you find please ... There doesn't seem to be many similar options here of using your phone for monitoring your stove.

Open the website in Google Chrome and at the top of the page it should ask if you want to translate it..

"Description

This kit allows you to control your pellet stove completely remotely. With an app. on your phone, the temperature can be read in the home and, if necessary, you can turn on or off the stove. Also, you can increase or decrease the temperature or power. The Pellet stove must be Wi Fi Ready!"

You could do pretty much the same thing with a wifi enabled thermostat.

If you connect a meter to those pins in the plug it might supply the voltage you need to power the thermostat of your choice.
Most wifi thermostats rely on mains power as the batteries alone don't last long.

UPDATE......

Have been contacted by the Italian company from my earlier link. Although they won't sell to me directly I have now passed on their details to my installer. They are going to contact them and apparently have also had some success with the stove manufacturers to. The have been sent something that their main engineer is trying out. Hope to hear more in a week or so.

The last message from the Italian company is below and I'll put a link to the catalogue they sent me.

our KIT ECO or EVO (touch keys) can replace in full the electronic of your stove, unfortunately the user manual is not yet ready in English language, but the installation scheme is a diagram and it is easy to understand.

Yeah I know. Like dude, what if someone hacked in to your pellet stove and told it vibrate that caused the stove to fracture and then it burned down your home. Dude don't laugh it could happen man. Totally serious man. Like Totally.
