I recently moved into a 1977 house with an original Malm fireplace. The hearth is sitting on top of the carpet and carpet pad that went through the whole living room, and I am wanting to lay wood floor throughout. Is it possible to disassemble and reassemble this without damaging it? I don't know anything about fireplaces so I don't want to cause any damage while taking it out. Any tips or ideas?
