I see a nice used one online - I'm ok with buying an older stove just curious when Jotul phased out the double and went with single. Also what other changes were made?

I got my 2 door in 2001. Not sure when the change over was to 1 large door. Kinda glad I have the older model.

Here is the Press Release:
For Immediate Release 5/1/03
Jøtul North America Announces Improved Jøtul F 400 Castine Woodstove
Portland Me – Jøtul North America is proud to announce the latest improvement
to their wood product line – the single door Jøtul F 400 Castine woodstove.
Jøtul’s extremely popular medium size woodstove, the Jøtul F 400 Castine now
offers the largest single door fire-viewing area for a stove its size.
Optimizing Jøtul’s clean burn technology, Jøtul’s research and design team was
able to replace the previous double door design of the F 400 Castine with an easy
to use single door that allows for open door fire viewing, enhanced air-washed
glass system and less draft sensitivity.
According to Jim Merkel, National Sales Manager: “We were very pleased with the
functionality and look of the double door Castine, but we wanted to give
consumers the convenience and ease of a single load door - we find that ease of
loading is the #1 criteria for our dealers and their wood stove customers.”
The single door F 400 Castine also incorporates Jøtul’s patented Oslo Handle that
allows for effortless single hand operation and has been highly successful across
the range of Jøtul wood stoves.
Jøtul’s medium sized single door, non-catalytic woodstove offers meticulous
craftsmanship and design that will provide a warm and wonderful centerpiece for
any hearth and home.
Jøtul has been designing and manufacturing quality cast iron wood and gas
stoves, inserts and fireplaces since 1853. We will be celebrating our 150th
anniversary during 2003. Known for fine craftsmanship and outstanding
performance, Jøtul offers a full line of cast iron hearth products in a variety of
styles, sizes, and colors. To learn more, visit Jøtul’s website
