Got an old Hot Blast indoor wood force air furnace. Converted into and outdoor wood furnace, covered it with some steel roofing (looks like "joe snoopy cools" house) Works okay, but don't have much air flow. Two 8 inch pipes for flow, one drawing from the basement, other pumping through the kitchen window. Don't really have enough flow to keep the box from over heating in startup and cool down, so i have been thinking about converting into a boiler scenario? Tank on top? maybe some sort of radiator? not sure yet. Plus, with 8 inch duct, i have it close to my house, i'd like to move it further away, only way to do that is a "big ditch" in the yard, or a "smaller ditch" with water! Smaller ditch would be preferred, plus i think water connection would be way safer than air. Has anyone attempted such a stupid feat here? any advice one a cheap tank? Pump is no problem, but want to make sure i get the best transfer of heat with some sort of tank. Want to make sure i get a good heat transfer with some sort of rig up? I've burnt with wood for many years, inside of the house, want to take the fire outside the house. Less chance of the Dragon burping and causing fire! (getting older and trying to think smarter) Any fire inside your house, it's like living with a dragon. If it burps the wrong way, POOF!

Thanks Gents for any kind of input!

stupid feat
Yup.
The hotblast was a poor furnace, those outdoor wood furnaces were a bad idea too (why most companies that made them are gone...well, that and the EPA test) IMO converting the HB to a boiler will not turn out well.
Better off buying a basic (but modern) wood furnace, like the Heat Commander for example, and spending the time/money to do a proper install, chimney, ducts, clearance to combustibles, etc, that takes away all the "dragons" power to cause you trouble...and saves you a ton of wood too! (Maybe 2!)

For anything outside, a water furnace is better. Take that Hot Junk, and sell it. Was never any good for indoors either.
I understand pinching pennies but, whatever you invest into this venture with it will be frugal.
Look for a good used purpose built OWB.
