An old plywood mill in Stevenson Washington that was used for storing pellets burned to the ground today. I am assuming that Golden fire/Bear Mt pellets were housed here as the pellet mill is just across the river. You can see some pretty good video at www.katu.com

Pellet manufacturing present a very dangerous situation the threat of fire is always present.

News like this is never welcome for Pellet users. When inventory is sparse, pricing will be rising

Was at my stove shop yesterday and overheard the owner talking to a customer saying he was out of pellets untill he gets his Oct alotment. What is there pellet rationing like it useed to be with gasoline?

Saw that the pellets down at Home Depot here were about $270 a ton. Its hard to imagine heating with pellet fuel at that price.

this late in the season, Im not sure the fire will affect any of the east coast pellets, rather mostly those in the west coast (too expensive to ship coast to coast). Allotment? Far as I know, there isnt any. Sure some of the tiny pellet mills, such as Wood Pellet Co, are so small they can only produce a set amount, but the larger mills out here seem to have plenty of pellets at the moment. Anyhow, for the past 6 months Ive been telling you folks to buy early....toldja so.....

I called Bear Mountain Forest Products yesterday when I heard the mill had burned. They confirmed they were storing pellets there, but said they had two other plants with pellets. They would not comment on any possibility of shortages.

Home depot in the Portland, OR area is selling Blazer pellets for $3.99 a bag. Any one have any experience with Blazer pellets?

From refinery 'shutdowns' to tanker problems in the oil industry (Heating just went up $.07 gallon this week...in three days).

Now the same thing with pellets?? Hmmm...A fire or two in a warehouse and prices move...guess it's the same everywhere you look.

Well it was a very big warehouse , the news report said it should continue to burn for a few days.
