i have a 3 year old Hitzer 254 with one annoying problem . i am now getting ready to replace the 2 nd baffle plate within 3 years. first one warped and fell into coal bed, this one is warped and twisted even after reinforcing with 2 lengths of 1 inch angle iron. we like this stove, but i am at my wits end with this troublesome and expensive replacement process. i am seriously thinking of buying 2 baffles and bolting or welding them together... the baffle seems too thin from Hitzer, in my opinion. ???

This is a coal stove, right? It has a 5 year warranty on parts.

Try the coalpail.com forum to network with other Hitzer 254 owners on possible solutions.

The stove has a 5 year warranty according to the manual.

i thought it was odd when i talked to the dealer... he said the manufacturer wouldnt warranty it...but his sales shop would. when i picked it up, he charged me 62 bucks...

What temps are you running at? Do you have a barometric damper? And if so what is your draft set at?

i do not have a barometric damper, maybe i should have installed one when we switched out the old and burned out Glacier bay stove. i am not sure of temps right now...my magnetic thermometer burned out last winter. have a new one ordered.
