Hi All,

We bought a house that has an older pellet stove but we can’t seem to get it to work. Previous owner said the auger needed replaced but it seems to be feeding fine. I was thinking combustion fan. I tried manually igniting but once I got the firing going and stove powered on it quickly went out. Any pointers or help?

That is an old stove I can not find a manual, some things to check
Is the combustion fan working? If yes does the auger feed pellets
for the first 15 or so minutes? Then the fire goes out? If the combustion
fan and auger are working check the proof of fire switch and the vacuum switch
one at a time by installing a jumper on the wires (caution do not let them ground)
That is where I would start
Welcome to the forum and good luck

No I do not believe the combustion fan is working. Also don’t know how to tell. The stove just kind of makes a humming noise when I turn it on.

The combustion fan should sound just like a fan if all you hear is a hum remove the
fan and clean may just need a good cleaning it can also be tested
Had to jump start the fan! Probably needs some WD-40 too. But now I don’t think the convection fan is working. So that’s next on my list to take apart and test.

The convection fan won't start up until the stove has reached a certain temperature, but it should be within a couple of minutes of getting full flame.

It also might depend on if the stove has different "modes". Some stoves have a type of "fireplace" mode (not called that), in which the function is to look pretty, but not distribute heat into the room. Would you share a picture of the control panel so we can see your settings?
